You will need to create an account at Gigapan.org
Download the stitching software from this website: http://gc.cs.cmu.edu/stitcherYou will need to pick a day/weekend to borrow the equipment from the Borevitz Lab.
When you return the equipment, we will make sure you understand how to 'stitch' your gigapan on your own computer and then how to upload the image to the gigapan website.
Here is an example from Hegewich Library (take a snapshot!)
You will each take create 1 or more Gigapan photos. The total needs to be >= 1Gpixel so it could be some small ones or one large one. Approximately 500 photos. You can take some small panoramics without the gigapan using Autopano.netAsk Cameron for the Autopano registration code. Here use full zoom on your camera and take many overlapping shots by hand covering a scenic location. This can be a mix of landscape and portrait pics. Autopano will align and stitch dozens of pictures and save them as a large file that you can upload to your gigapan account. Here is an example
After you upload a gigapan to the website, you will see that you can take a 'snapshot' from anywhere in another person's gigapan. Have fun zooming in and finding stuff on your peer's gigapans. I'd like each of use to take a snapshot of each others gigapan's and note
